Insuring a Deliverator

Whether you want a Deliverator to have personal trunk space, to make deliveries for a service like Grubhub, or to use for your own business it is important to insure it correctly for particular use.  Each kind of use we just mentioned takes a very different kind of insurance to make sure you are completely covered on the road.  In this page we will cover those kinds of use and kinds of policies that you can use to cover you and your Deliverator.

Deliverators and Personal Use

When insuring your Deliverator, it is important to know the difference between personal use and food service delivery. If you work for a flexible delivery service like Grubhub or Amazon, there are some gray areas around personal use. On your way to a pick up, while you are transporting the goods, and back from the pick up are all classified as business use and are not covered under your personal policy. Even running errands for your office can land you in an unfortunate gap in coverage as that is also business use.
  • Option A: personal use. This covers your normal personal driving, but not activities like DoorDash or workplace errands.
  • Option B: personal delivery. This policy will cover your Deliverator for use as an occasional delivery vehicle for companies like Grubhub and for workplace errands.
