Hey everybody! My name is Luis Diaz.

I am a senior at Bushnell University. This is my third year in the US since I am originally from Spain, where I lived most of my life. More specifically, I lived in the beautiful region of Asturias, northwest part of Spain.

From our culture, I can highlight that we are really open-minded people, sociable, with a lifestyle that involves going out to get to know more people and keep friendships close. Food is really good in my country. Maybe some of you have heard about “Paella”, which is a rice combined with seafood or meat, depending on how you like it.

Personally, my favorite dish is “Fabada”, typical from my region.

I had the privilege to travel all across Europe when I was younger and I would recommend everyone to do so! I consider our gastronomy pretty good. If I had to recommend a place to go in Spain, besides Asturias, it would be the Canary Islands, which is a paradise to explore.

The reason I came to the US, beyond getting a good education, was to keep playing soccer at a college level. I played two seasons here until I got injured on the beginning of my third season. Soccer and sports are my main hobbies. Since I have been living here for the last 3 years, I really enjoy watching NBA games. However, if I would have to choose between watching soccer or basketball, I would always go with soccer. I also enjoy hiking (the harder the hike the better), fishing and catching up with family and friends.
